...drumroll, please...
This is the very first blog entry by Jake and Jen, who are headed to Doha, Qatar, in August 2007. During our stay in Doha, we hope to get to know the cultures, languages, and peoples of the Arab world and beyond...making us into modern day Marco Polos (hence our blog's title). Depending on the stability of various regions around the world, and the ability to meet up with our contacts (friends, and family of friends), we have tentative plans to travel to Israel, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Dubai, Morocco, Oman, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, India, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, China, Australia, and New Zealand. Not that we're ambitious or anything!
We will keep family and friends updated on our adventures here. Most of the entries will be from Doha itself--we'll both be working full-time, so our first several trips will be short weekend excursions (weekends are Fridays and Saturdays throughout the Muslim world--see, we have interesting info for you already!)
